Actually their site is quite confusing. On one place I see there are 6 different heights but if you filter by model and year it decreases the number of options. If I click on 2012 Road King the only shield is the 25". But for the 2011 RK it lists the 18" and 25". I guess if a guy was interested he best give them a call and make sure you get the right one for your bike.

The shields are also 25" wide which I like. I think the stock shields are only 22" wide. They are pretty spendy but from the reports here they appear to be worth it.

Thanks. I've been looking at this one and the Long Ride Shields offerring. This one is considerably more expensive, but people really seem to be happy with it.

Clearview Shields http://clearviewshields.com/ is another option. I've had several of their shields and the quality is top notch. You can get them with the "recurve" at the top. But the Klockwerks looks like it would reduce buffeting better.

What I don't like about the Clearview shields is their choice of polymer resin. They use an "Acrylic Blend". I know that the Long Ride Shields are made of polycarbonate resin, which is my preference (FYI - I'm a plastics engineer). I can find no material specification on the Klockwerks website for their shield, and there is no e-mail contact given to ask them. I will have to contact them by phone to ask about their choice of material for the shield

Default Klockwerks "Flare" Windshield for Road King

Last year I switched from a 22" HD windshield that came with my 2008 RKC to an 18" Flare.

I am 5'8" and can now see over the top of the windshield. I have less wind buffeting too. The Flare is significantly wider than the HD shield I took off.

It cleans up as easily as the stock one.

The plastic is thinner than the stock shield, but still doesn't flex using the stock hardware.

I really like it and will buy another when I wear this one out.

The Klockwerks version of the Flare shield, or someone else's?

The Klock Werks shield is polycarbonate w/hardcoating to help prevent scratches.

I personally have had bad luck with acrylic shields. I have had several of them crack. I won't buy another acrylic windshield.

For safety, polycarbonate is the best material available.

Thanks for confirming that.

Exactly. Acrylic doesn't have nearly the impact strength or flexural strength of polycarbonate.

I won't be using it anymore because I am adding a fairing next week (gotta have tunes) but I can absolutely say that it is the best windshield that money can buy -

I attached the only picture that I have of it on the bike

It cut the buffeting down a bunch and also keeps a lot of air off you hands.

I now have the quick detach fairing but I still swap it out and run with the Billboard Flare.

Pics of it on the bike attached.

I noticed that neither of you are running fork deflectors with this shield. Are you not experiencing any wind from under it? What about compared to the stock shield before you replaced it?

Thanks in advance!

I have been doing a lot of looking at shields. I decided on Klock Werks. I sent a message to them to get the right model for my ride (02 FLSTCI with nacelle head light). They emailed me back within an hour or so with what I needed. I went to my local HD dealer (Thunder Tower) and ordered it this evening. Will let you all know how it works out when I get it and put it on.
