Default 2011 FLHRC - Height Concern

Hello All,

I'm a new rider, new harley owner, new a lot of things....

So I bought my Road King Classic and love it. My only conern is that my feet aren't flat on the floor. Most of the time, i'm on my toes. Previously I had a V Star 650 Classic to get more experience and i was able to control that bike with my feet flat on the floor.

What would be the most inexpensive way to be able to touch the ground? I just bought the bike so all of my funds went into the bike.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CHUY

The easiest way is to get a lower seat or have yours redone in the same way.
You can put lower shocks on the back like a StreetGlide has.
Get riding boots with thick soles

Or... do all three

I would not lower the bike. Cheapest thing to do is get taller boots and the next cheapest thing to do is send the seat to Mean City Cycles and have it narrowed and lowered.

Cheapest easiest way is likely a lower profile seat... there are countless discussion on here regarding different seat types. Other than that, you can lower the bike, that's a bit more expensive and involed... or you can just do some toe strengthening excersizes.

the reasoning behind all this is that lowering the bike thru shorter shocks gives a harsher ride- the suspension travel is reduced. this trade off may or may not be acceptable to you

You may do best with a seat which is narrowed at the nose, and closer to the frame.

Thanks Everyone. I'm going to give Mean City Cycles a call. Any other places I should look at?

My wife took over my 08 RKC. She's right at 5'0" and maybe 115 soaking wet. I had an extra set of OEM RK shocks and sent them to Bitchin Baggers. They asked what her height and weight were and suggested @ 2.25" drop. About a week later they arrived, slapped them on and they are perfect. Coupled with a reach seat she is able to be flat footed and with some bend at her knee. With the mustang solo wide, she is still flat footed. I am @ 200 and will ride the bike form time to time and the ride quality isnt bad. Not nearly as harsh as lowering blocks, stay away from those. The best part is we didnt loose the ablilty to adjust the air pressure. He did suggest with that low of drop it would be just a solo bike and to pump up the pressure for luggage and such on a road trip. But being she wont ever have a passenger on, that was a non issue.

With a 2011 you do have the wider frame that will push your legs out farther. Its not cheap, its @ 200.00 for the shock modification, shipping and return shipping. Maybe start out with the seat and then go from there, you should be able to go to your dealer and have them put on a reach seat - just to see how much it would help before you bite the bullet of buying one. They can usually be had on ebay for @ 150.00
