Default cam choice 98 ci build

ride a 2000 rk 88 ci carb 43000 miles andrews conversion cam plate 26 n cam dtt ignition

smith bros push rod stok head pipe old se slip on on dyno last year 74 hp 92 tq

lot of 2 up with trailer sometime want tq coming soon

now lookin for bb 98 ci and street port by vee twin performance or hillside (i.900 int 1.6 exhaust ) wan keep it reliable and easy tuning im in montreal Canada not a lot of good tuner here

i first think keep 26n cam 9.6comp for low rpm tq start pullin at 1900 top at 3500

maybe 48 n cam (higher lift) about same comp

some builder... told me put a more agressive cam wih some comp add i can av almost the same

low tq than with the 26 or 48 cam and end up with a better tq curve and keep the bike reliable and easy tunable

andrews 37 .... 54 .....

i know wood made some conversion cam i call wood he suggest me tw 56r or tw 6 and t man i think do some too

( maybe too much cam ) noisy??? reliability user friendly ?????

When I had my 05 EGC, I went from an 88" to a 98". I went with the SS 510 gear drive cams. With the cams, head work, and everything else, it purduced 94 hp and 112 lb tq, and would pull a freight train. The cams made a realy good race car lope and loud as hell with the 2 to 1 Thunderheader. Later went to SuperTrap, all the plates with open end.

Hillside and Vee Twin will recommend suitable cams when you talk to them and make sure CR and head porting all match up with each other. They are the experts, let them do the hard work for you!

Red Shift 227. Very similar to a 37 with more lift, but you won't need new springs, run it just under 10.-1

Two things you said stand out to me. Reliability & the lack of a good tuner in your area. With that in mind I'd suggest you look into gear drive cams (S&S 510, & Andrews 510 lift cams), & a ThunderMax Auto Tune. 510 lift is reasonable for a street cam. Cam timing & overlap will determine it's rpm range, & you won't need heavier springs. With an Auto Tune tuner you won't need a dyno, & once you have gear drive cams you can quit worrying about cam chains.

As gr said, get together with whoever is doing the heads, that being said I'd recommend staying with Andrews cams, either the 54s or 57s. The 57s are basically just a high lift 37, same duration & timing specs with a little steeper ramps & .560 lift. Call Andrews & get their recommendations & then talk to your head porter. I'm running the 54s in a 103 & like them real well, they should be right at 10.1 whereas the 57s do better at 9.75.1, the 57s should come on a little lower with the 38 intake close. Either of those should get you in the 100+ hp range with some decent headwork.

I would look into a Woods 5 set up by Hillside.
