Default Shocks or Speakers?

If you had $450.00 to spend - would you upgrade the shocks or audio system? I hate both the stock shocks and speakers, and having a hard time deciding where to put the cash.

Shocks...you can't put a price on riding comfort. Music's optional...IMO.

Depends on how comfortable you are with your ride right now. If you are upgrading just to do something different then don't. If you are happy with the ride then go for the audio upgrade. Only you can decide which one is a priority or a necessity.

I would go with shocks as well, but you are limited with $450. If your bike feels ok to you for now, maybe sound now and save for some premium shocks later. Really you win either way.

If only a budget of $450 You can get better speakers for that than shocks. If you buy cheap shocks now and speakers later you will probably be buying shocks a second time.

Ditto on shocks!! Changing them is a good idea if U push your bike at all. It then becomes a safety issue. If not dealing with a reach issue, buy the best non air shocks U can afford. I ride a RGC that comes lower than most touring models, along with the SG, and they can drag without too much lean into a corner... I am running the Progressive 944UT's on mine now and they are as good as I have felt on the back of any touring HD. And, WAYYYY better than new, factory air shocks were awful! There are many choices, including shocks built just for U and your bike, weight, passenger?, total load, and riding style. They cost a couple more hundred dollars or so?? not sure on pricing, more than $600, non custom like Progressive and others, less than $500 in most cases (online pricing on both)

Default My two cents

Get one of those low pressure air pumps and play with the shock pressures. I've had great luck getting a pretty good ride (with and without a passanger and gear) by adjusting the shock pressure. 2-3 lbs makes a difference. Then spend the rest on audio. I would suggest a Rockford Fosgate PBR 300x4 and a set of Focal separates w/ the tweeters in your upper gauge slots. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I think I am going to go with shocks! I don't ride super aggressive, but I can not find a sweet spot in dialing in the shocks. Plus, I hate having to add air, release air depending on weight. I have lost two gremlin bells from dragging floor board pans on turns... not sure new shocks will prevent that, but I am not happy with the air shocks.

And the stock speakers. Don't get me started. lol. 14,000 miles and they sound like my 1985 Kraco speakers.

Boomer,
I'm missing what bike U have and how tall U are?? is the bike an SG or RGC? if not too short and ride one of those, U can look at the full length 13" shocks as an option to help give U a much better ride than with any 12" that I tried.
