I installed the Axtell By-Pass in my 2009 UC when I replaced lifters. it worked as advertised and was a big improvement over stock.

i have the axtell oil bypass valve installed along with zippers cam chain tensioners with fueling lifters and red shift 525 cams on 2014 flhxs. at cold start up oil pressure is between 49 to 56 as its starts to warm up it will drop to about 42 or so. if you start to raise the rpm off idle the pressure will drop because the oil is thick and the bypass valve will open. once bike is at operating temp i get 17 psi at idle 44 to 46psi at 60 mph in 6th gear increase to 70 mph on highway oil pressure will maintain 50 psi. i have run the complete fueling package in two other bikes and i can tell you this setup is working just as well with the benifit of no foaming in the oil and alot less money.

FWIW, i called zippers to buy the Axtel kit for my Feuling cam plate and they told me they dont recommend putting one in the Feuling plates. Funny thing was their site listed a separate part for Feuling, but when I called they said its not available.

Will this work on a S&S TC3 camplate?

have you considered just installing the Baisley spring instead?

I'm on board with doing what is best for my scoot as is everyone else. One of the ongoing problems is engine noise obliviously, locating it is a mystery in itself.

Changing out multiple parts is great "process of elimination", that is fantastic but can we isolate it? The question is changing what specific part does the most in eliminating noise or in this case add better oiling. Replacing one specific part is a more efficient way to go for now, agree?

Also noted many have replaced lifters this alone can be a huge difference in oiling the top end where many have suggested is the main location of engine noise occurs. Cam chain noise is another, but believe that is contributing but not the main culprit. (below is description of part & price)

DETAILS
This is a new product designed and developed by the Axtell Mountain Motor team. This bypass valve consists of a precision-machined “needle and seat” that inserts in place of the factory oil pressure relief valve located within the Twin CamŽ cam plate. With the factory OEM oiling system configuration, when oil pressure becomes excessive, it is bypassed from the high pressure side of the feed gerotor back to the low pressure side, “looping” the oil in the feed gerotor gears (see B and C in diagram). This causes the introduction of air into the pressurized oil (aeration) - aerated oil is foamy and spongy, and results in lower oil pressure and volume. When this occurs, the entire oiling system if affected - engine heat and noise builds, piston oilers shut down sooner than designed, valve train and top end life is shortened. This system blocks the factory port back to the feed side of the pump and directs the bypassed oil into the cam chest. The scavenge side of the oil pump returns the excess oil to the oil tank and eliminates the oil “looping” and its negative effects.

They claim Axtell valve, you can expect higher, more stable oil pressure at all engine rpms, longer oil life due to reduced oil shear, lower oil and engine temperature, improved valve train control and reduced noise. Zipper’s recommends this for use with our Red ShiftŽ Dual Piston Cam Chain Tensioners. Models available for all H-DŽ and Screamin' EagleŽ brand cam plates. Patent Pending #61/693,612

#620-103 Axtell Bypass Valve for All Harley-DavidsonŽ and Screamin' EagleŽ Brand Twin CamŽ Cam Plates +$84.99

I put in the dual piston cam tensioners, with my RS-525 cam swap and the axtel bypass all at the same time .....only had 9000 on it when I did it .... quiet as a mouse I can hear the breather like a four barrel when I romp on it ..that and exhaust is all I hear ...

but it do see some foamy oil and ...unless I have the oil level at the bottom ... I get a dribble out of the oil stick ....not much but damnit I just cleaned it every time lol

A couple years ago I did a 98" big bore from Fuel Moto on a 06 Ultra Classic. The valve train on this bike has always been noisy. The big bore didn't effect the valve train noise much, it's always been noisy.

I then installed Rock outs. I don't think they helped much on this bike but i didn't see very pronounced witness marks from the rocker shafts rocking against the mounting bolts.

Last winter I installed the Red Shift dual piston chain tensioners and the Axtel oil bypass spring. The bike has never been so quiet. The valve train sounds so much better and quieter. So far over the coarse of this summer it's run smooth and trouble free. It definitely boosts up the oil pressure at idol and going down the road.

I have had the Axtell bypass in my 2012 street glide for a few years now. At first everything was fine and I experienced better oil pressures and no obvious foaming etc.For the last two years I have had several experiences where my oil pressure would start slowly dropping from 40 psi at cruising speed alll the way down to 12-15 lbs. and almost nothing at idle the first time this happened I was at Sturgis, I parked the bike for the nite and called my wrench back home, we talked about a few possibilities and he suggested let it sit over nite and see what it did the next day. So I get up start the bike the next morning and everything is back to normal and was good the rest of the week. When I got home I changed the oil and filter about 2-3 weeks later same thing happened, took it to my mechanic and we put a new oil sender on it, of course it was not doing this at the time. Fast forward to the next spring a few weeks into riding season it happens again. Every time this happens if you shut it off and let it cool down it seems to be fine. Last winter I put new Medalion gauges on the bike, and so figured if it was a gauge problem that would be the end of it, NOT, it did it again on the way to sturgis this year, I said screw it just kept riding after about a half hour it came out of it and was good all week. So I get home and tell my mechanic we half to figure this out, but it will never do it for him. I asked him if it could have something to do with that Axtell bypass, he called them and explained what was going on and they said something about they have experienced some issues when running this system with the stock Harley oil coolers. So I am thinking about changing out to an after market oil cooler or else removing the Axtell bypass.
