Brukus fasteners are marketed as an anti-theft device. They may be better at thwarting thieves, but they (or any other bolt fastener) are no more secure in holding the bags on the bike than the dzus fasteners. Harley uses dzus fasteners precisely because they can't vibrate out, unlike threaded fasteners, which can. For the same reason, they are used on airplane cowlings and race car bodies. If used properly, they will never come out.

Just checked mine, sure enough they are still in the drawer where I threw 'em

Default Saddle bag retention

I wholeheartedly agree with TKDKurt's assessment of dzus fasteners. Never gave the ones on my airplane's cowling a second thought, and never experienced a "failure". The Brukus hardware is marketed only as anti-theft. I ordered a set for my Street Glide but when I saw how flimsy the hardware was I never bothered to install it. I do use their "Seat Secure" hardware on both my FatBoy and StreetGlide and like those systems.
One of our other Forum members, rwhisen does manufacture some really substantial bag secure hardware. If you would like his contact details please feel free to send me a PM.

41000 miles on my SG and have never had a problem with the stock fasteners. I have had the bags on and off hundreds of times. Bolting them on seems a bit of overkill to me but, to each his own. YMMV.

Those are awesome. I appreciate the offer for the specs although I don't have the machinery or know how on producing something like that. I think you have an excellent option there that may appeal to the masses. If you could integrate/secure a nut onto the back side of the plate that would be awesome as well. It's a tight fit in there to get a open ended wrench to hold it.

It's the Road Glide version that has a stripe. Thanks for looking though.
