Yesterday was an awesome sunny day in the low 70's so I hopped on my bike and went for a ride. I was out hitting the highways and byways as life was grand until... my right-hand saddlebag fell off! I was about 40 miles into my 150 mile roundtrip ride when I pulled into the city of Hondo, TX.
I slowed down to 40mph as I entered the city and then I heard a loud thump followed by the sound of something scraping along the pavement. I immediately looked back and to my despair it was my bag sliding along the pavement away from my bike. I immediately pull into a parking lot and turned off my bike. I began walking towards the bag that ended up against the curb. Luckily a mechanic saw it all happen as he stood outside of his shop and went over to pick it up for me just in time to avoid it getting hit or run over by a car. He met me halfway with the bag in hand and asked if everything was alright. I thanked him for picking it up and walked back to my bike confused.
How the hell did this happen I'm not sure? I can only guess that the pins were not seated all the way and backed out due to the vibrations and wind drag. Oh well, now begins the process in getting it repaired or replaced. From what I've read so far that Sedona Orange is a tough paint to match so I will explore my options.
All in all, I am grateful that it was only the bag as it could've been much worse.

Pauly3 I feel for you!
I'm calling bricks immediately to get their saddlebag kit for my glide!
At least your ok mate - the SBg is replaceable/repaintable.
Lowes/Home Depot....Clevis Pin, 2 large fender washers & a spring clip X 2.....Remove the rear clip on each side that holds the stock fastener and replace them with the parts mentioned (cut clevis pin to size). Easy to remove and install without tools. No need to do the fronts. I've used this set up for 4 years without issues and have piece of mind the bags are not going anywhere.
'bout $5.00 in parts......
