Default wheel bearings again

does anyone make good wheel bearings for the late model 25mm bearings? what about after market wheels, are you still stuck with the 25mm bearings? what junk is HD putting in these new bikes? i'll never get rid of my old evo, so i'll have something to ride while the new ones broke down.

I believe Timken makes a bearing for you.

F.A.G. makes really good bearings. They are rated at nearly 10,000 rpm. Those bearings work great for the older non-ABS bikes. But for the ABS side of the wheel (left in front and right in rear) on the newer bikes only HD has the bearing that will work with their ABS encoder. Not sure if you could use a F.A.G. on the other side or not because I am not sure of the absolute thickness of that bearing thus how it would work with the internal spacer.

Search on wheel bearing and you will find the F.A.G part numbers folks use for the non-ABS bikes.

I've been using SKF, # 6205-2RS1, getting them through www.usabearingsandbelts.com, they're about $9 each.

Good info to know!!
Keep us posted!!
Thanx!!

I always thought that it is a good idea to change your bearings when you get your tires changed to be proactive, rather than being reactive.

No I don't, as has been said many times the only place to get the ABS bearings is from HD, these bearings will work on the non ABS side on a bike with ABS.

50K on My 08 Ultra, no ABS. Wheel bearings still in good shape. Knock on wood. But I'm going to replace Them during the next tire change which should be about 10K more miles.

what is the service life of the wheel bearings? Should they be changed out with new tires ( which i have no problem with- if it is not labor intensive)?

I have a 2011 RKC, 10,500 miles, tires still looking good, thus far no wheel bearing issues.

Cheers,

Mark
