dealers don't know chit and apparently neither do I. I just got off the phone with HD and they are in fact married and mileage reinstatement on these once they've been married to an ECM (it's 30 miles by the way not 200) is NOT possible at all. Permanently married just like the tuners are.
I know this thread is old. I put my speedo tach on my Deluxe with thundermax auto tune.
Everything went well , been driving it for a couple of hundred miles.
Today I unplugged the speedo to fix my fuel pump. Hooked it backup and now I get vin in err message . Even tried to reinstall it nothing.

did you put the speedo on before the thundermax? If so it's looking for the ECM to connect back to. Put the stock ECM back in just to get the speedo working again then replace with your thundermax.
The thundermax has been on for 6 years. The speedo married to it. Worked fine with the thundermax , unplugged it to work on fuel pump. Now it's saying vin err. I don't even know where the stock ECM is. The speedo has been working fine until I unplugged it.
also I'd highly suggest before doing the above procedure that you contact Zippers to confirm this will work for you. I'd hate for you to follow these instructions and lose anything that is programmed into the TM ECM.
I did all that . When I first setup the speedo I just followed the Harley instructions. So I don't know of I had a vin stored. It's a older model.
Called Zippers , now everything is email. Getting really sick of the email crap. Bikes been sitting for 2 days.
I called them when I bought the speedo and they said it was fine. It was till I unplugged it.
Now if I put my old speedo back the milage will be off about 500 miles.
