Did you ever get your issue resolved? Mine is doing the same thing. I have an 08 street glide and added saddlebag lid speakers and fairing lower speakers.....and a fairing amp and a saddlebag amp. it cranks loud when its not running and everything works great. When I get it on the road it "Skips" or cuts in and out periodically and does it more when the volume is up.

Yes, let's hear if anyone has had this problem and resolved it.

I had the dreaded cutting out from a vibrated board in my head unit. Sent my amp in to J&M and it checked out fine. Sent my head unit in and Iron Cross fixed the board that was the issue. No more turning off like before, but now like you...sitting in the garage not running it works perfect. Once I start it and it is idling or when riding it, if I go above half volume and get to a loud part of the song...it fades more than cuts out. Almost like it is not getting enough electricity.

Plan to bypass the amp and see if it does it on just the radio...but havent gotten to that yet.

Be good to know if someone that was experiencing this was able to get it addressed.

Thanks,

I'm sur ethis will not solve the OPs issue...but heard back from Iron Cross (once again great customer service ++ to them) that they had not previously experienced the issue, I heard back from John at J&M. He asked me to make sure my intercom system was turned off if I was "crankingthe tunes."

Sure enough....as soon as I turned off my intercom...fading problem stopped.

50 in Nebraska yesterday put 100 miles on the bike and never had ANY stereo issues.

Once again a BIG kudos to J&M...they have bent over backwards to help resolve the issues I expereinced....that were not even problems that their equipment was responsible for.

Hope this might help some others that are experiencing the issues I had.

Ok you have disconnected the front speakers and landed the wires on the rear speakers and now they are cutting out. You have confirmed the front speakers are not the problem. The problem is somewhere between the radio output to the amp, the amp or the wire from the amp to the speaker. Eleminate the amp, run the original wire from the radio to the speaker and bypass the amp. If the problem is still there it is yor radio, if no then it is in the amp or the wires. Then replace the wire from the radio to the speaker, problem still there then it is the amp or the amp to speaker wire, replace the wire from the amp to the speaker, problem still there then it is the amp.

Divide you problem in 1/2 and rule out at least 1/2, continue working on the known bad 1/2 dividing in 1/2 and ruling out 1/2. You will eventually get to the problem.
