That is leaving the question pretty wide open isn't it? Pretty much endless choices from rebuilding your seat to buying HD or aftermarket.

My $0.02. If you are a big guy look at a Corbin. They make nice, comfortable firm seats will spare your tailbone from bouncing off the plastic seat pan as I found other seats to do.

Good luck.

I had a Sundowner on my Sportster and loved it, as did my wife. I have a Tallboy on the RKC to accommodate my long legs. It is essentially a Sundowner pushed back 2 inches. I strongly suggest you go to a dealership with a mockup bike where you can try several seats on a frame. This is a very personal decision, but make the Sundowner one that you try.

I ordered a Corbin classic solo for my 2011 RKC and received a seat that looked like it was made from some left over junk. The base looked old and beat up and the leather had large faded spots on it as well as being loose and wrinkled on the nose. On top of all this the seat sat on top of my console so high I had to shim the mount up with 3 washers to make it latch. It was crooked at the front as well. I sent it back to them in early December and was recently told they might be sending it back to me at the end of February. I couldn't believe they would send something so poorly made to a customer and now having to wait for about 3 months to get it back. I had read some negative reports about Corbin but I really liked the looks of their solo seat so I tried them. Not again.

Default does your HD dealer offer testing seats?

a lot of HD dealers have a program where you can take a demo seat out and try it out. If you have a dealer close that does it, that is the best way to go. you can try out several different ones to actually see how they feel for "you".
that being said, I just put the "hammock" HD seat on my SG and love it. so much more comfortable. but note, it will raise you up a little. i can still reach the ground flat footed, but i can for sure tell that i sit taller in the seat.
some of my buddies around here all had the sundowner seats. when they tried mine, they all loved it too. the ones with their wives there that tried it, wasn't real happy that I just cost them $500. cause now their wives want one.

Sundowner seems to be a very popular option. I have the 2 up Sundowner. THe GF took her first ride a week ago and was happy with the seat. Now I just have got to fix the shocks! I have a Vintage Mustang Solo. I like it for leg room as it sits me even further back than my sundowner. It is however a little too soft for me and seem to flex to badly under acceleration. I am a large guy though.

C & C all the way. They make some great looking seats , gerat quality and price and they are comfortable but dont have to look like a post hemorrhoid operation pillow

go to www.ccseats.com and then call or email Chuck for any questions. I think they do a forum discount as well.

As stated above, H-D dealers have demo seats. Suggest trying an H-D Hammock seat. It's the one they put on the CVO Electra Glides. Personally, I think it's a very comfortable seat. I'm 6'3'' and weigh 185# for reference. Or.......... I see in the 2013 parts book (page 332) that there is a Sundowner seat made for a Road King Classic - it's got the weave and the emblem like your stock seat. Part# 51615-09A, $330. That way you get a more comfortable seat for you and wifey and keep the look of the RKC seat.

Good luck.

My comfortable may not be yours but I just bought a LePera continental 2 up. Very firm but I like that. Also a very wide passenger seat (16") for the better half. Have not yet done any miles but I do think I will be satisfied. My car seats are very sporty and firm. Nothing worse than a plush soft seat for my semi fat, older ****.
