i had an 2011 street glide with 103 255 cam. bike started to run rough and as summer went on it got worse. took back to dealer and told them something was really wrong was not sure what it was. plus oil pressure would go up and down sometimes at a idle. dealer took it apart and showed me it was 7 thousands out and said it was with in harley specs also looked at oil pump and looked like small cracks in casting. i asked if that was normal and was told it was normal. also the outer cam lobe was shinny. i had around 7500 miles and same dealer put the cam in at thousand mile service. they said everything was normal wanted to put new motor mount as last resort. i told them I've had a enough harleys and i know something was really wrong with the bike. so i told them you say nothing wrong then take it in on trade i dont want it anymore. needless to say i now have a 2013 road glide and I'm going to put hiflow oil pump and cam plate in when I'm doing the cam.hopefully better luck this time.
Yes .0025 ".
Like i said VERY SURPRISED!!!
I still did the hydrolic set up with an r&r cam plate and zippers dual piston tensioners. Also used a dt 3 stage oil pump.
Sure, with the compensator pulled it's wide open to indicate it out there were the sprocket runs. My 04 with 30K was within .0015 all the way out on the end. However by the time you stacked the spline sleeve for the compensator and then the sprocket sliding on that I had to index the spline sleeve to get best reading for the OD of the chain sprocket. Think I got that within .005. Way good for a chain drive. My link chain was quite worn from abuse and it had short and long areas that caused the tension slack measurement to use up the tolerance for the chain free-play and I was just curious to why.
I found Harley specs to be a joke, took my bike in to get cams and upgraded oil pump and hyd tensioners, got my bike back and was only getting 12psi oil pressure at 3k rpms, they told me that was in spec, when I took the bike in I was getting 30 psi at 3k rpms, I told them that 12psi was not in my specs, they put my old parts back in except the cams and charged me $1,000, I was pissed and told them off and will never go back to that stealer again.
You need to remember thats the measurement in worn bearings as opposed to being in a set of v blocks in a shop with the crank out of the motor .you may get completely different readings also the weight of the pistons and rods can change run out readings
