I am only saying that, that is what some indy and harley mechanics are telling me.

I should add I have good reason to be fussy. I put a 98" motor together with gear drive (.0015 runout) and below was the result after the crank slipped. It pretty much destroyed the motor. I put it back together with a DH crank and added the Timken bearings. I vowed from that day on to always build from the bottom up. That's one of the reasons I built my 120" instead of the crate motor.....peace of mind.

Default Forced Rebuild: Crank Runout Fault

Last two HDs cranks spun.... too much OEM runout was the stated reason.
Began both rebuilds (a 117" and a 107") with welded, trued, balanced cranks which really smoooothed the engine out -- noticeably.
A 'do it once' build begins with the foundation.... the crank.
YMMV, but, for me, it's the crank because HD no longer does the best OEM products... but they're not the only company that is run by bean-counters these days....
I will say that ESP pays off... if you ever spin a crank... both ESPs, for me, paid for themselves at least 4 times over...
OK, back to the OP subject...

Here's my 2010 measurement. I was curious so I bought the Fueling setup and measured it when I did the cam swap. A tad over .004 at 13,000 miles. I have an esp, but even if I didn't, I wouldn't lose any sleep.

I sent a brand new OEM crank to Rev Performance for true and weld .the sheet that they sent back said this:
Original runout on pinion inner: 0.004
Original runout on sprocket inner:0.004
Original runout on pinion outer: 0.003
If these inspection numbers are legitimate, I'd have to say that they are not to impressive for a brand new factory crank on truing stand

Extended Service Plan. This is extended warranty coverage that must be purchased before your original factory warranty expires if you want additional coverage down the road.

With all the mods I have make to my scooter, I am sure that I have screwed the pooch on mine!
