I have had both done, 8 years ago on my right (right handed) 6 years ago on my left. Well worth it and only about a week off work and after a month your good to go back to normal, riding and lifting that beer mug. Nursing a rotator cuff now... that's a whole other story..
I couldn't ride more than 30 minutes without stopping to get feeling back in my hands. Had the surgeries about a year apart. Second one 'bout a year ago. 3-4 weeks before you can ride. Good as new now.
Had a little problem getting the strength back in my hands after surgery. Doc said get a squeeze ball and use several times a day. It worked.
Whats the symptoms for this, I have trouble with a very sore middle finger on my right hand and have had elbow troubles.
Sometimes i wake up in the mornings and my right hand middle finger is stiff and sore and i cannot move it for a little while, is this carpal tunnel syndrome?

It's called trigger finger. Just had middle finger on left hand done last week. Goggle it, there's a video that shows the surgery on line.
Had my right hand done 1 month ago, rode about 100 miles last weekend no problem. Having the other hand done next month. Make sure you get the Endoscopic surgery, they split your palm open the other way and it takes longer to heal. I wore the braces on my wrists at night and that helped to keep the fingers from going numb but glad I had it fixed.
Had my LH done 4 years ago, healed up in a matter of days. Fixed on a Thursday, back at work, wrapped up, on Monday. Good as new! I do plan on the RH, as for now, I get the same numbness after riding a few minutes. No trepidation, just go do it.
interesting reading , wearing a brace on my left hand while at home to midigate any more damage , hand goes numm on ride but lucky it is my left hand and can rest it but I see surgery in my future , glad to hear it comes out so well

Yeah, me too. That was one reason (of many) I bought the Ultra. I use the cruise control a lot when on the hwy. Greatly alleviated my symptoms. When the left hand starts bothering me I either ease up on the handlebar grip or shake my arm to restore circulation. I generally only have symptoms while riding (also when using a mouse for awhile.) My job requires great hand strength, I could'nt afford to take off for a months recovery time.
