Anybody out there have carpal tunnel surgery? I am going to need both sides done, throttle first. Three out of five fingers go totally numb on me whenever in a relaxed position, including on the throttle. I use a throttle boss to help, but it still goes numb.
Questions: did surgery work? How long before you could twist the wick again? Did you change handle bars, what do you use? How about other activities; work, lifting a 32oz beer mug, etc?
I had it done on my left hand last year, am left handed, it was like getting an new hand, one week of no use, second week could use it a little, after a month back to normal. I had the surgery done at my doctors, was awake, I felt some pressure and then when he made the final cut it felt like pressure was released and blood went rushing thru my arm, was the pressure on the nerves being released, am very happy I did it.
I had both hands done for CT, right hand middle finger trigger finger and this past Tuesday had trigger finger surgery on my left hand middle finger. I have a soft cast on until Monday. Give yourself at least one month before doing any serious wrenching or riding. When I had my right trigger finger done, I wrenched on my V-Rod within 2 weeks and opened up one of the stitches.
No biggie if you have the right surgeon..Had my right hand done, Im right handed, was riding my scoot in three days, had the left done one week after the first, same result...gave me my hands back, and no more night pain and numbness. off work 30 days..2 years now and good to go..Do it you wont regret it...Scooter
Hay both of mine have been done as well as my elbows.Try acupuncture first can't hurt. Getting old sucks. Waiting for the new bionic ones next, and a back replacement.

True that on getting old! I work in a nursing home and I see it all. So far it sounds better than living with it. I want a bionic back!! I'm fused from S1-L3, I miss being able to bend, but don't miss the pain I had for over 20 years.
Hey, in the mean time ride it like you stole it, donate your organs if you bite the big one and stay out of nursing homes!
Wish I hadn't waited so long to get mine done. I got one hand done, back to work (light duty) in a week, two more weeks then got the other done. I had mine done in the winter before riding season, but I felt I could have ridden in about a month. Total success, you'll be happy it's done, I can ride forever now without any pain. Good Luck
I have had both of mine done, the first they made an incision at the base if my palm, recovery time about three weeks to full duty. The second a different surgeon using a microsurgery technique, a small incision in my wrist about 10 mm. No stitches no pain back to turning wrenches within a week. Both sides are good to go now.
