Changed mine a few weeks ago. Rented a blind bearing puller from Advanced. Little bit of a pain but it didn't take too long. I actually threw the wheels in the back of the truck and did it in the parking lit of the store. Then took it back in and got all the money back. Set the new bearings with a 1-1/2" socket I have for water heater elements and it was easy as pie.
Here's photos of my extractor. One rap with the hammer and its out.
I know it ain't right, but in Vietnam it was the better of two options.
If I gotta change them again, I'll use it again too.
A long bolt with lots of washers makes for a great insertion tool also.
How much are you paying for wheels/tires. Found a brand new set locally on craigs off of a 2013 RG for 750. I was going to offer 400.
I picked up the tires/wheels today, got both front and rear for $180. Once I saw the wheels I knew that I would not be using them. There is some pitting on both the front and rear wheels. The rear disc looks like it was stored underwater. None the less... the rubber is OK so I got my moneys worth. Thinking of turning one of the wheels into a bar table.
Auto parts stores like Auto zone loan the blind bearing puller slide hammer, you pay for it and get a full refund when you return it. It works great. I can't see buying a tool I'll only use once every few years if that.
