Default What do you do???

First time I've ever run into this - out cruising today through some of the smaller off-the-beaten-path smaller towns and stopped for a drink and to top off the fuel, but there was a sign on the pump that said "mid-grade and premium grades out". No sweat, still had over a quarter of a tank so went to the next stop about 15 miles down the road, and darned if it didn't say the same thing. Like I said, I still had enough to get me back to civilization this time, but what would you do if you had to have gas and all they had available is regular unleaded?

That has happened to me. I was down to two gallons or so and didn't want to running out on the way home. I just got two gallons of regular and topped it off with premium at the first station that had it.

Throw 5 or 10 bucks in it and ride. I'm sure you could find a service station with high test before you run out a gallon of gas.

I've had it happen. Just bought a couple gallons, had a drink and road away.

Relax people. It isn't sludge. Gas up and get home. Fill up with the good stuff later.

That is why I always carry a full Reda gas can in the bike luggage bags. One gallon will at least get you another 30-40 miles.

Agreed! Fill up with what's available... I'd guess the computer would be able to compensate for the lower octane fuel.

If the bike is pinging or detonating, add a little octane booster to the tank.

Had it happen once. I filled up with regular and dumped in a bottle of octane booster I bought from the same gas station.

+1. Same here. I also carry two or three mini bottles of the HD octane additive I got from my dealer for damn near nothing.
