Put the lowering kit on my Ultra with no problems, I'm using the Bub true duals with dresser dog mufflers. Friend put on the lowering shocks with the lowering kit and the screw that holds his seat down cut a nice groove into his rear tire. He liked the shocks so I got the lowering kit freebie. Ain't it good to have friends?

Good Point I forgot to bring up (cause I tired it and it does not work).

You can not put the low profile shocks on with a lowering kit. It really looks cool but like mentioned above, you will bottom out. Just can't go 2" with a bagger. I was going to take my short shocks off anyway so I just put the lowering kit on to see how it looked. I had already been told that it would not work.

I ran a lowering kit for sometime, (believed it to be a 1 1/2) but after having problems with contact while riding loaded on a long trip, decided it wasnt worth it. The ride suffers somewhat, and the cross member would drag if overpass' were 'ramped'. This was with the OEM shocks, my wife (115, maybe), myself (150), and gear (80). BTW, I would be interested in selling those brackets should anyone want em. They came off a 2001 FLHR.

They do make kits for the leather bags but I think it puts them out at a weird angle.

Terry
The RKC kit differs from the RK kit by (1)-lowering the bike 1in. instead of the 1 1/4in. of the regular kit, (2)-the shock angle is not changed, and (3)-the bottom of the bags are moved out about 3/4in.
The bottom shock mount is lowered to directly below the stock location, with the shock itself spaced outward about 1/2 for clearance. That is why the bags are also spaced outward slightly, to clear the shock. Once done, I don't notice any difference in the way the bags look. they don't look like they've been moved.

Thanks Moto. I have a RK classic and hadn't heard of this on earlier posts about the lowering kit. Now I've gotta' think hard about whether I want to order them. Do you still have them on your RKC?
