Have you removed the fairing and looked? Because there should be a hot wire on the harness for the headlight, I am not sure how much amperage you plan on drawing, so check that out, but you may be able to use that lead.

Yes, I checked the wire in the fairing but unfortunately it is hot when key is in acc. position. Cant have that. Why is there 4 prongs on the plug? Do I need to go to the "hundred dollar" shop to get the mate to it?

Thanx!

It looks like the plug in this pic. It's called a 4pin deutch connector, HD sells them.
BTW, my Street Glide has a similar (unused) plug under the front fairing. It might be put there for adding foglights.

Default Plug

If you decide to use the ACC plug, here is a wiring diagram & part numbers for mating switch.

I guess I'm confused. If the plug only has two wires going into it, how can there be three switched combinations and a ground wire, as per the above diagram?

Because that's not the plug, that is the plug you buy to mate to the one on the bike to power an accessory. The one on the bike has four wires, just like the diagram shows, and like has been mentioned a few times.

The diagram is specifically for the acc plug on the bike, because it is also used for other add on items that HD has, and this is why it also has a brake light function.

I found one once behind the right side cover. I thought that was the acc. plug. So what's that one then in the right side cover?

Probably a battery tender plug. Does it have two connectors?

Nope. It was an empty 4 pin connector.

I suppose that's possible since I got the bike used. But it didn't look like it had ever been used. By that I mean the same amount of dust on it as everything else.
