Question Streamliner Passenger Floorboards

Hey Ya'll,

I wanted to get some solid advise on the passenger floorboard set ups. I have a 07 Street Glide. My wife and I will be taking a ride up the PCH from San Diego to Malibu when I get home next month from this deployment. She will actually be driving at rental car from Phoenix to San Diego while I'm on the bike for that portion (To Cali and back to Phoenix / More on that later...)

Back in November when I was home, we rode maybe 45-50 miles at one time. She said that the seat was comfortable but her leg position caused fatigue and strain. She said that she had to "fight" to keep her feet on the "toothpicks" (LOL!) at times which caused some muscle soreness. She is 5'01 at 100 lbs.

Prior to buying the SG we rented a Ultra from the local HD dealer. She said that she liked the footboards on that bike because they made her feel more secure and there was considerably less stress on her lower body.

This all being said, looks like I am going to purchase the matching floorboards for the SG (Streamliner). I also saw a floorboard comfort mount system that tilts the rear of the board downward.

Anyone that has experience with this set up please share with me what your ladies have experienced and if it solved some comfort issues? This is going to be my wife's first "long distance" ride. She has a pretty sensitive equilibrium issue so we are trying to take this step by step to get her used to riding longer distances. She loves being on the bike but, I don't want to push too far too fast. That's why I will ride alone from Phoenix to San Diego and back on this vacation. She will be riding with me everywhere else to include the whole PCH ride. I really want her to enjoy this experience. Although this is my first Harley and my first real trip on the bike, the more comfortable/secure she feels the better the this trip will be overall. We are both really excited.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a good deal on the streamliner boards and mounts? The best I have seen so far is around $300. Any info on a good deal would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any input and as always great site and info here.

LW

I had the same issue with the wife. Replaced the foot pegs with the Harley swept wing passenger floorboards. Cost around 300 ish with my 20% off discount. I went with the groved floor pans rather than the smooth which I think are a bit more. Easy install and worth the money. Don't have to stop as often cause she was sore and easier to get on/off the bike.

Went with the Kuryakyn Iso boards for my wife. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40
She likes em' and so do I.

You can get them for a 1/3rd of the price too, if that makes any difference to ya.

I switched from the D style to the sweptwing. The cheapest place I found them was here http://www.cyclepartsforless.com/ which is ran by Kutter HD. Just passing that along. I can't believe the SG still comes with pegs. Pegs do look better though. I wonder how many people buy the rear footboards for their SGs? Smart marketing I suppose

Had the same issue come up with my wife on my '12 SG. Added floorboards, better but also added these.

Default Baron Custom Accessories

The mounting kit you refer to is from Baron CustomAccessories.
I put a set on my Ultra as the wife didn't like the "flat foot" feeling of the stock mounts. They move the boards out about a half inch, allow three different heights, ŕnd give the option of tilting the boards back for a more natural foot rest position. My wife says the difference in comfort is night and day, and she no longer has problems with her sciatic nerve. It is as light adjustment for me when backing the scoot, but nothing major. For her, it is the best mod I have done, and we know about the "happy wife" syndrome! Very inexpensive mod that çhanges things drastically for the passenger.

I don't think I wanna push a bad position on that one bro. I got about 5 weeks till I make it home. Mama needs to be happy!

theaton,
My internet sucks over here in Iraq. I can't see the picture you attached.

Thanks for the info on the Kury products. I am set on the HD Streamliner boards. I am not going to make many modifications so I want these to match up with the driver boards. The mods I did/am making are geared toward ride quality/safety and enjoyment. I got the progressive touring link, modified lowered factory shocks and a brighter headlight. My 2 non related splurges are the Hog tunes and tweeter pod set up w/ amp and the 21" front RC Components Calypso wheel that I am looking for.

I have been reading and have a couple of friends that say the 21" wheel tours with the same level of comfort their stock wheel did. As soon as I find a deal, I will be taking care of that. I figure with the boards, board comfort mount set up, shocks and chassis link and she should be pretty comfortable on this ride and feel secure in her seat.

I looked at the cycle parts for less and they were actually quite a bit more. No pun intended. Any other recommendations for deals can be had on the HD boards?

Amen on the "Happy Wife" brother. I got some catchin up to do. That's good to hear it made that big of an improvement. I will be purchasing that for sure. Looks like ebay has it for 73 bucks. So far it looks like the best price for the boards, mounts and comfort kit is about $380.00 OUCH!
