after changing oil in the forks and shocks on my 1998 electra i had a few beers and was going to bed when i heard this god awful noise in the garage. my jack had leaked down and my bike fell to the ground. 118000 miles and never hit the ground. That i know of at least. i did get it used but the point is it happened to me. doesnt look like anything happened but i feel like i let it down. im a little bummed about it.
I can only imagine, it's got to feel awful. I hope little or no damage was done. I try to remember to let mine down on something solid if I can't go all the down (wheel missing or something) good luck to ya.
kroozeabout.
That's a total bummer man, sorry to hear bout that. sounds like everythings pretty alright though... and seriously, you learned a lesson you won't soon forget. that how ya get smarter about stuff.
I always put the stops in place and back the pressure off the jack
That way the jack last longer
...BUT I Had to replace the jack on my j&S and its never had pressure left on it .......33 bucks
no big deal ...still love my J& S. GOT 2 years out of the origanal jack
That a good reminder to put the lift lock on mine when I leave it on the jack. Some years ago I was letting the air out of my dirtbike forks between motos, and left the bleed screw loose, on the second lap I got a oily surprise.
