Default Pitbull Jack Mod

Had the day off due to something called Presidents Day and needed a project.

Got to thinking about the simple plywood shelf I use as a platform for basic projects while up on the Pitbull jack. Here is what I started with.

Decided to improve it. Used brain (what’s left of it) , some plywood, a bloody Mary and a few tools. (note: the ply is some extra 1 1/8 T & G flooring material that I had layn around.

The platform is 2ft x 4ft with slots cut out for the jack frame uprights.

Then flip it over and make up some cleats out of some 1X material so you can slide in a brace piece after it goes onto the jack.

Once done, just slip the platform onto the jack, place the pre-made brace bar under the cleats and clamp it all down with two quick clamps. Literally takes about 30 seconds if you are slow.

Anyway, makes for a nice work platform for tools, drain & drip pans for fluid changes, beer, etc.

Then pull up your ADA approved shower stool that you bought at a garage sale for $1.00 and enjoy your day.

PS… might have to sell the bike someday …. But keeping the shower stool.

PS.. Not sure….. but something like this might also work with the J & S...

PS PS..... The shower stool works equally as well with the Pitbull, the J & S, The Sears Yellow or Red and the Harbor Freight Jack.

Clint, great idea. I have been using the same piece of wood as you were with the clamps for the Oil changes in between the braces.

This fixes the problem with the oil dripping off the filter area and down to the jack frame.

Looks like a good project for this weekend to get ready for my 107 build

Awesome, love it. I'll be stealing this idea, for sure.

OK, so this was such a great idea, but I made one modification. I screwed a 3/16 sheet of white formica type material I found at Home Depot onto the top. It has made wiping any oil up real easy.

Now that is a PRO job. Nice..

That gets me to thinking that the platform actually ends up being at a level that is still just below the tires, so you could actually use the entire 8 ft length of ply and then fab up some fold down legs for the ends.. Kinda like folding table legs.
