I still have the custom bags, the wheels are chromed street glide wheels, but the chrome is flaking. I have a almost new set of S/G black wheels and 9 spoke wheels I was going to put on one of them.
The engine is black and chrome and the tensioners are good, as is everything else. I have gone through everything on the bike including checking all the electrical plugs and making sure theyre clean and sealing them with dielectric grease. Its easy to do with no sheet metal on the bike.
Well that sounds interesting.
I'm kinda set on a fairing, but would like to ck
it out. I realize the windshield on a RoadKing works
better than the one on a Heritage (angle & so on)
I wouldn't let the mileage scare me--I have 114K on my '04 EGC. I had the top end done at 90K rather than buy a new bike. I really love this bike, It has the stage IV motor and has been the best/most fun of all my harleys.
I put 80K on my previous EGC('98), and 75K on the EGC before that('93).
Pricing is another issue, but I don't see the mileage itself being a deal breaker.
I bought my 04 EGC in August for $8900 it had 14k on it. True duels with stock mufflers quick detach trunk. Try and see if you can get him down. More than likely they only took in trade for $4-5000. Mark up is between $3-5000 so I'm sure there is plenty of room to play.
I paid $12,700 for my 06 EGC lastyear with 4k on it and **** is high in Ct also.. I think i got a good deal after looking at prices at dealers.. Buy private and save 2-3K for the same bike.

imo 02 is the best year, forged crankshaft, timken bearings, upgraded swing arm and delphi injection, parts for 02-06 are mostly interchangeable and everywhere.with the crank in an 02 the runout is almost always in spec for gear drive cams.
There is also an 02 for sale locally.
I know that is a good year for tourinb models

I just bought an 04 FLHTCUI w 15,874 miles on it for $9100. I bought it from a private seller though. Couldn't be happier, garage kept, never laid down and pretty much stock for me to do what I want. Good luck.
We're moving (this weekend).
Sold the house in SJ (Did real well-luckily-but been here 18 yrs)
We're moving to San Ramon,Ca (about 40 mi north of here -
Nicer area- better schools - we have a 10 yr old boy -
Better neighborhood, some of my favorite riding roads)
My commute to wk will be a wash.
So, buying a scoot is (or should be a backburner thing),
But WTF!! For the time being, about 10K is my cap. Honestly,
I haven't tried to sell the Heritage. Do I want to keep it just in
case I don't like the bagger better (slim chance?) Sentimental?
I dunno. I've NEVER owned a motorcycle for 13 yrs before this one.
I do know this. The sitting posn (the ergo's basically) are better
for me on the touring frame. The ol' softail "you sit in the bike"
is great, but kills me. A couple hrs in and I'm hurtin'
I rode my friend's 06 Ultra a couple times (once for the day)
and NO fatigue what so ever.
Since I don't get to ride that much - when I do get out I wanna
go & go all day.
Thanks again for all the input !!!!
So, you'll deliver that RK from Sacramento?
I do like the RKC bags on your EG.
