I used heat demons..then you are not tied to a specific grip style..

I just put a pair of Avon Custom Contour grips on my '12 SG. Then I BROKE MY FU*&#NG HAND and haven't been able to ride and try them out! Feel good with the one hand that works sitting in the garage though!

I have the Avons on mine. I've been running them for about a year and a half now and I love 'em.

I have the black Get-a-Grips on both my bikes....LOve 'em.

The thing I like about HD grips is there is a lock collar on both the clutch and throttle side grips. No glue or sticky tape needed.

Default Avon Custom Contour

I went with Avon Custom Contour grips when I recently put on my 13" Cyclesmith Apes. Which Grips?-avon-grips.jpeg

Coming off many years of saddle time in motocross/off road bikes- the thick fat grips have never felt natural to me. I like the Avon's- nice & slim, comfortable- a better sense of control and a much more natural feel to me. Went for a long ride on Saturday & they felt great.
