don't have a road king, but i get a chubbie every time i get on to my ultra limited....does that count. they are all good, just a matter of your taste. its been a couple of weeks since i've been able to ride my ultra but was able today and was grinning ear to ear.....love this mo co.
I first bought a 2001 FLHR in 2001. Traded up to a 2003 FLHRC in late 2002. Took a bath, but managed to pay the bike off. Then I got a bug, and traded a paid off Road King for a FXSTC. Now, it was a great bike, but it certainly was not a Road King. After 4.5 years of the FXSTC, I traded again for the 2012 RK.
I sometimes look at other bikes, and even considered getting another Sportster. All it took was a ride down to the dealer to sit on one, and there just ain't no way. Besides, although my mind wants to play like I'm in my 20s, my 51 year old tail likes the FLHR a lot better. Come summer, I get to dump the windshield. That's what makes them so nice. Easy enough to change styles.
The newer touring frames are a lot better than the older frames. I have had both, and the different swingarm between 01-02, and can safely say, they just keep getting better. The 103 and 6 speed are just gravy.
