Default Fuel Leak

Not new to reading the forum but new to posting. I have learned tons of information from you guys, thanks. I have a 2008 ultra classic and have a fuel leak at the tank with quick connect fitting. I did a search on this and didn't really find a solution to the problem. Can the o ring be replaced or do I need to replace the complete fitting? Thanks in advance for any help.

The new fuel filter kit for my 07 RK has the new O ring so I'm going to assume it's available.

Default Fuel Leak

Thanks, I'll try cleaning it and if that doesn't work I will try changing the o ring.

On my 02 road king the line needs to be pulled out pretty snug to make it seat and not leak. I have bumped it in toward the intake and caused it to leak a couple times. A good firm pull outward makes it quit dripping.

You can replace the o ring its a bit of a pita. You need a little dental pick and a mirror helps. It is a metric o ring. I think 5 or 6 mm, but cant remember for sure.

It is a known problem by Harley and yes it can be replaced. Mine needed to be replaced last year on a trip in the states.

u can use the o-ring for the oil drain plug same exact o-ring and yes pick the old one out with a pick tool and lube up new one before putting it in! just did this to mine as fuel fitting was leaking bad after big bore conversion $0.75 o-ring instead of $40.00 fuel line and opening tank to get old one out

Same happened here this week-end. Parked at a motel overnight, next morning went to start the bike and fuel is gushing out of the quick connect at the fuel tank, fuel pissing all over the engine. Fortunatly there was no KABOOM because I didn't notice the fuel leak initially, and the bike was running/warming up while I was finishing loading up the saddlebags on the other side.

Had to calll a flat bed to get the bike to the HD dealership, the tech replaced the connector, they said that I could not just get a new O-ring for it.

Charged 45 minutes + $58 for the new connector.

What a PITA, and huge fire risk.

What if the O-ring let go at 80 MPH on the hi-way, fuel would be all over the hot engine and directly on the spark plugs/wires...how many bikes have been burned up like this ?

Cost to replace :-
Tow = $85.00
Labor + new connector = $114.00
