OK, just had this problem about 2 months ago. I took the tank off for paint and when reinstalling the tank, the o-ring pinched. There is an o-ring inside the tank-side disconnect (the female part). If you go to an HD dealership, they will only sell you the entire disconnect ($68). I tried one of the Help kits from a local parts store and the o-ring was simply too fat/big. Solution: I went to a Car Quest, who stocked two large o-ring kits (the kind behind the counter that have 50 different o-rings, took the old o-ring with me for matching, and paid $0.40 for two o-rings. If you have problems getting the match, I still have the receipt from at the house. It was a metric o-ring.

I had a leak and it was just the o-ring(s) were dry and did not seal. I put a little silicone grease on the fitting, installed and removed it a couple of times and all was/is well. Are the o-rings actually torn?

The o-ring inside the female end is a #41 same as the oil drain plugs. I got a 10 pack at lowes for a little over $1.
