Dyna Caliper on Touring?
Does anyone know if a Dyna rear caliper and bracket would fit a touring bike or would this be a bad idea? I'm trying to put a 5.5" Fat Bob wheel on my 05 and there is no way either the stock caliper or the Brembo will go. There just isn't quite enough room between the wheel and the rotor to get the caliper on. The Brembo might go with the stock 05 rotor but I'm thinking that isn't such a good idea as the stocker is a smaller diameter.
Is the profile of the aftermarket calipers smaller? I may just end up selling the wheel and going aftermarket to make this work. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick
Firstly, the arm that connects the axle to the caliper is wider/heavier on the touring model. It would be up to you to decide whether this was a sensible safety option or not superfluous. It probably won't kill you; but when it does, it will.
Secondly, in a standard set up, you would need to machine a thin off the axle mount end of the caliper to make the Dyna fit. I cannot remember how much but it seem to remember it was deeper.
I cannot comment on the rest of the conversation you are attempting as I don't know the wheel. Is it a cush drive wheel ...?
Sounds like you are going to have to machine *something* whether caliper arm and/or spacers.

this allowed me enough clearance to get the stock touring caliper back on to the stock rotor then re-install the pads.
it is not easy, but it did work and i did not have to machine anything.
this may not be the problem you are experiencing as i have no photos to reference if this may be the issue. Hope this helps
