Thundermax ?
103 build and when I start it cold it stay around 2k for a good while. It will settle down but I have yet to see temps over 180 degree's with a 20 mile ride. Is this normal?
Do the Tmax make adjustments after shut down and powered up again? Seems like each ride it get a little bit smoother.
My 12' 103 with SERT doesn't seem to stay at high idle for very long and it warms up completely to operating even on short rides.

If you have Auto Tune the ThunderMax will adjust to 10/20% of your base map. It will do that each time you ride it. If you read the adjustments & then write them back into the ECU that will become your new map. It will again adjust 10/20%, & so on, & so on until you no longer need adjustment.
If you're using a Harley oil cooler & reading 180 after about 20 miles in reasonable temperatures & traffic all is well. Oil changes temp slowly. Takes a while to warm up, & once warm takes a while to cool even at highway speeds. It ain't like watchin' coolant temp in your Buick.

Okay I figured out how to read and write then save the adjustments. Does this mean that it will continue to adjust and after so many miles I should read and write again? How many times should I do this for the best tune?
Thanks for the info. "If you read the adjustments & then write them back into the ECU that will become your new map". Are there any videos that show you how to do this? I have a learning disability can't read instructions for **** but if I am shown how to do something I am all good. I searched YT and all I could find were installation videos.
Use autotune. Run it for 100 miles. Save it again. Repeat. When the changes become minimal like 5% or less your done.

After two or three read/write sessions the software will tell you that you're within a few % of ideal. That % will be less than the 10/20 % the ThunderMax auto tunes for. Since it always adjusts as you ride you won't need to read/write any more unless you make a change in equipment on the bike, or manually change parameters on the bike. Mine was complete after three rides, but now I'm adjusting fuel air ratios to improve gas mileage. I'll make my changes in small increments, check the Auto Tune adjustments, & work from that. Since it's so easy & I'm in no hurry it'll probably take me a while. Made the first change last week, but didn't check it till this week. The adjustments weren't enough to write back to the ECU.
