I just got a set of the real ones today-new. They are sitting on my living room floor along with a set of V&H Dresser Duals. As far as knock-off CFR's go, I have heard both and good bad. Blueing, Baffle blow-outs, loss of low-end torgue, too loud, don't last very long -all the way to best sound, no noticeable loss of torque, love and awesomeness. Obviously this leads to a multitude of other questions as far as particular bike set-up and application. I will say that I did find a real set on ebay last week buy-now auction for like $450.00. Somebody bought em and thought they were too loud and put em up for sale after 6hrs.
If you dont mind let me know what you think when you get the Dresser duals on?
Its hard to tell since I still have the stock head pipe, the cat really kills the sound. If I had to guess Id say they probably need a repack. My new head pipe should be installed this weekend so Ill know more then. Most likely Ill crack open the knockoffs and see if theyre blown out then too. I will say Ive been completely happy with the knockoffs so far.
Do you remember where you purchased your knockoff's? I have found a few sites (KCINT and Ebay) that carry them, but was wondering where people were buying them from.
Ive had a set on for about 10,000 miles now. The right side is a little gold in color from the heat, but I've still got the factory headpipe and stock tune.
you might try a set of xieds or vieds to give it alittle more fuel , they are cheap and really help , atleast on my 07
I just purchased the knock-offs from american customs on ebay for 199.99 ... free shipping ... I have a 2010 Road King with a fuel motto headpipe ... i am going to purchase the fl vieds to richen it a little ... im really hoping to get some good sound out of this set-up ...dont want to be obnoxious .. but i do want a "good" loud... i didnt buy a RK to listen to the radio ... lol
I have some CFR's on my ride, still has original 09 (no cat) head pipe with stage 1 tune. These slip ons in my opinion are not super loud as some have said. They have a deeper throatier sound to them when you get on it, kind of like a "big block" motor kind of sound, I will be changeing head pipes in the near future when I finally do the big bore, maybe then they will be louder.

Got mine from American Custom on ebay. They are louder then the Vance & Hines twin ovals I had on. I did notice a loss on the low end. Wouldn't be a big issue but like to launch at stop signs once in awhile. Map I got from fuel moto really helped.
Since adding cams, pipes are louder.
Installed my new head pipe yesterday. I did notice a little chrome bubbling on one of the mufflers. It's towards the inside so its not noticeable really but thought you guys might like to know. Sounds great with the new pipe on though! I got mine from american classic motors via ebay.
