I had pretty much the same experience as JDEARMON in dealing with Motorcycle Metal. I'm not going to spend my $'s if a few simple questions can't be answered.
He'll man if he's to busy to take care of potential customers today because of bike week than he should close his business till he gets back from bike week. I've never dealt with him and to be honest with ya I probably won't sounds like a real PMS jerk.
i had the same problem with him. i called at the first of January so know bike week problem! i don't like bad mouthing people and i know every one has bad days but he was very rude and disrespectful so i said thank you and hung up! but he's not getting any of my money or references!!
I had several long conversations with Howard when buying my shocks. He's a little full of himself but I would say they were good, informative conversations. He was never rude to me. Direct and to the point but not rude. He's a little different and I can see how he would rub some folks the wrong way. I purchased during this time of year last year. He built and shipped my shocks while at Daytona. Called me from there when he shipped them. Had a couple of follow up conversations when I was tuning my shocks. I thought he was on the extreme (positive) end of responsive. I'd buy from him again. Sorry you had a bad experience.
Howard is like alot of engineer type-experts in their field. He is a very busy man and gets straight to the point. He went and put a ton of info on his website and asks people to take the time to do the minimum research before ordering his products. I don't think he is trying to offend anybody, I get the impression he is running a high-end business and works many hours. He believes in what he's doing. He can be curt but these days "bikers" can be a little soft. There was a time when men didn't get their feelings hurt so quick. Bottom line, he's the best in his field. He's probably insulted you guys didn't take a minute to read all the info he took the time to provide.
I bought from Howard and appreciate his to the point no bullshit style. Hell he even called me after delivery & wanted to go through the installation with me. I would always prefer someone that gets right to the point rather than someone who just wants to bullshit to make a sale.
Maybe that's just the New Yorker in me.
I called and spoke to Howard two weeks ago. Never having personal met him,he is to the point when talking about his products and Harley suspension in general.I listened and gave him time to explain when I asked him questions. This is the second time I've spoke with Howard on the phone. He is very knowable and helpful when asked about the different shocks he builds and sells. I found him very honest about the type of shock I would require for my 012' Ultra and the type of ridding I do. He is originally from New Jersey and I'm from upstate New York. We had a good long conversation about living in the Northeast and living in Florida,I talked with him for almost an hour. I was very impressed with the fact he did not try to sell me something he thought I did not need nor did he try to sell me a more expensive product. He never pressured me to buy anything. He did tell me he was very busy getting ready for Daytona.I have printed out his order sheet and filled it out. I plan on calling him right after he returns from Daytona and ordering the JRI 13,B's and a Race Tech kit for the front end of my Ultra. I was ready to call Race Tech directly and order their G-3 shocks and the front end kit, but having spoke with Howard and reading how impressed folks here are with his products and service. I plan on doing business with him and placing my order..
