progressive will recommend the standard/lightduty spring but may tell you you are borderline. They will change the springs no charge if you pick the wrong one.
where did you find the best price on your 944's? i'm curious because no matter how i set my stock air shocks they beat the hell out of me. i figured with a brand new shiny '13 roadglide ultra, it would have suitable and comfortable rear shocks. that's not the case for me anyway. i have tried from 12 psi to 40 psi, and it's either bottom out soft, or rides like a hardtail. i've not found any happy medium. i weigh 190-200 and ride solo. so i'm guessing i'd also want the standard rather than the heavy duty springs.
thanks Jack6hd, now i have some place to shop other than at the harley dealership. they've recently put progressive 944's up on their display wall and they're right at $700 there, and they also have the works shocks on display. i just want to install something that will actually work as a shock absorber. it'd be nice to find something that i don't have to set pre load, sag, rebound, and all the stuff that goes along with the ohlins and other high end shocks.

I weigh 190 also, and the standard rate springs made a huge difference...for the better. The HD springs made me feel like I was riding a wild bronc. With standard rate springs the ride is much more compliant, and handling is very good.

30lbs makes a huge difference! im 220 and could have gone either way, but at 190 it must have been a handful.
