Well got my 944's back from progressive and had them swap my hd springs to the standard or light duty set up. First i would like to thank frank for the quick turnaround, customer service is top notch and they give you whatever you need regardless of expense. The first thing i noticed is the springs are much thinner then the hd's so i knew a softer ride was inevitable! but, would i still have that great control? Well i left the preload on the softest setting and took a quick blast threw the neighborhood and found the ride super plush! almost to plush compared to the hd springs. Now being an aggressive rider i really liked the hd springs but can never leave anything alone and just had to try the softer setup so i continued my ride even though my ba..s were frozen solid just to give a review for those of you who have been waiting. That said im extremely happy with this setup now as it gives me the versatility of a super soft tourer and just one turn on the super smooth upper got them right back to where my hd were. I don't understand why people pay crazy money and drink the coolaid to get a set of what looks like motocross shocks that require spanner wrenches to adjust the preload! We have touring bikes guys! are you telling me that all the big guys cant design a user friendly shock like progressive? Well its the main reason i went this route and im glad i did, these shocks do it all and are easy on the pockets so for you guys with the hd springs that are wondering if the standard are for you i hope this review helps and for those of you drinking the high priced coolaid keep them spanners handy.
I keep wondering about getting the softer springs for mine. If I could change them myself and limit the bike to being down to 1 day I would probably try them. My problem (besides downtime) is that I am 250(ish) and my wife is not a petite. That coupled with a tourpak and luggage I think translate into us needing the HD springs.

Thanks for the review on the soft ones.
Im 220 and only ride solo but on the lightest setting it never bottomed out once on moderately bumpy roads and when i adjusted it one turn it stiffened up and performed like the hd did! Ive still got away to go adjustment wise so if i had to take a passenger i really think id be fine. Now at 250 and your pass maybe keep you hd's, believe me i loved my hd's! I just had to try out the softer springs and they worked for me.

How's the ride height with the 944s? Somebody said they are supposed to be a little lower and still be able to get the 3in of travel. Sounds like they ride pretty good though.

Ive tried many different shock setups most were big bucks and these by far are the total package! streetglides are lower then most baggers i believe the shock length is 12 inches. It seems like my feet are planted better on the ground now that i dont have to air up the factory crap air shocks enough not to bottom out.
I'm going to put some on in April, but am having a hard time deciding which spring to use. I'm about 220-230, always ride solo, and travel light when touring.

progressive will recommend the standard/lightduty spring but may tell you you are borderline. They will change the springs no charge if you pick the wrong one.
