I have a quick question. I am thinking about putting 14" apes on my 09 SG. Just wondering to how people like them. Do your hands get alot of wind/rain since they sit just above the fairing?
I love mine, kinda wish I went with 16's though. As far as wind I get all of it, my grips are inline with the top of my windshield. If you're worried about the wind you might wanna go with 12's or 10's.
Got 14's on my '09 FLHX. Love them, my hands are above the fairing so they do catch wind and anything else. The only regret I have is I didn't go taller.

IMO
If you cant decide between 10/12, go 12.
If you cant decide between 12/14, go 14.

I have 12" Yaffe's on my RG but they run tall and I have a bare bones seat so they feel like 14's. I love them. I have 16's on my EG with the stock couch cushion and I love those too, even though they are above the fairing. Yes you're hands are going to get more wind/rain, but you're on a bike... Wind/rain is always going to hit you somewhere.... Both my bars are right about shoulder height (im 5'10").

Totally agree with that! I have 14" on my 2011 Street Glide and I love them. Always go 2" higher than you think you want. I was sure 12's were perfect and I'm so glad I went with 14". Much more comfortable and they look better IMO.
