Default New front Belt Pulley

Hey guys,

I've done some searching and reading. Most post are dyna's or older touring... Looking for some recent info.

Looking to change gearing by going with a 30 tooth front belt pully. Think I'm gonna need a 139 tooth belt. I was gonna get this 30 tooth pulley.

HD Part number 83595-11

Anyone do this recently on a touring bike?? How you like it??

Default 30t reply

I changed mine to the 30t and I think it is my best mod for the money spent. I did mine myself for under a hundred bucks. I used a die grinder to remove about 3/16'' from the rear of the swingarm adjustment slot and added a piece of 3/8'' square barstock in front of the adjustment cam. This allowed me to keep the stock belt which I thought was important when traveling in case of a broken belt. It also saves you $$$. Only downside is speedometer is a little fast but I see you have Power Vision and you can correct it with that. Cruise and sixth gear light still works. Hope this helps. Allyn

Rhonda you say your cruise and 6th gear light still function,I was under the understanding that you would lose those features when doing this swap, that is the only reson I have not done this mod yet.

We used the front pulley from 2012 Triglide and 139 tooth belt X 1" from Drag Specialties I think. Reset the Speedo with Power Vision. The new setting for touring 2012 FLHTK was 2404. Runs great. Already had TW 555 cams. Was running with the 32 tooth 78.6 at 3000 in 6th. Now 73.7 at 3000 in sixth. You can now pull down as low as 50mph in 6th and still accelerate ok. If you are planning 80 mph cruising you will be doing about 3275 at 80 with the 30 tooth.
