A few months ago we traded in an 09 f150 with 45k on it, have traded many times with this person. When appraising the vehicle noticed a check engine light was one, went ahead and done the deal thinking that it wouldn't be a big deal to fix.... Boy, I was wrong, brought into service and had a cam phaser code, thought no big deal just fix it.... When the valves covers were pulled the ohc 5.4L had the cams and rockers running in a pile sludge! Never in my life have I seen one this bad... Needless to say the motor was shot. I called the previous customer that I known for 25 years and ask him how often he change his oil.... I was told that he changed it regularly, 5-7k intervals and used a schaffers oil in it. Still hard to be believe the intervals were regular. My advise was if you are changing a those intervals you better change brands.

VR1 50w racing oil and see no reason to be hunting down a holy graille for oil. Seem to remember Brad Penn and Amzoil was a big deal awhile ago, just saying.
