Having a tough time with this one. Has anyone seen this problem?
Bike; 2006 Roadking Custom FI, True Duals, Hypercharger.
Problem; Engine starts and runs on two cylinders then after about 15 seconds it drops a cylinder and only runs on one. No faults.
What I have done; Changed plugs. Removed Power Comander, check and cleaned all connections on ECm, battery, fuel injectors. Checked internal fuel lines for leakage.
I am new to this forum and look forward to chatting with you all!
Thank you in advance for any help!
I'd start with the plug wires checking to be sure both ends are making a good connection. If that doesn't help try putting the old plugs in. It is possible you bought a bad one. You may also want to check for codes.
Welcome to "The" forums BDO! I hope we can help you out.
An 06' is most definitely going to need new wires. Even if they have been changed before. They are a bit of a pain to get too. I just removed the rear tank bolt and got just enough lift on on the tank to facilitate the wire change. I had a concern going in as almost all current plug wires are of carbon core design, and their were some crazy tight bends the wire must make to get it back in all the same retainer clips under the tank. I've never seen the likes of the tight area where they are, and why they are so long. Whew! This core is very fragile. Bend a wire to much and it develops a hairline crack which creates resistance, thus rapid breakdown.
However this may not be the cause of your issue, it is one more inexpensive thing to eliminate in the diagnosis. Mine ran fine, but the ck engine light would come on for but a few seconds when I gave it the beans, (as our brethren from across the big pond would say).
First thing I purchased for my 06' e glide was a repair manual. Without a doubt the single most valuable thing you will ever buy for your scoot. I have as of yet to have anyone else work on mine. YES! I hope it is this simple a fix.
Do let us know when you have found the cause as it will help another rider some day soon.
My $0.02
Thank you for the ideas! Tried two sets of plugs and known good plug wires. Still have the same problem. No fault codes. The manual does not do a good job of troubleshooting unless you have a fault code. I am leaning towards an ECM issue but need to cover all my bases before spending $350 on the ECm and and other $335. for programing at my local dealer. Keep the ideas coming!
Update; Swapped injectors from from to back and the miss followed the injector. Inspected further and found about a pound of sugar in the tank. Ordered new injectors, filter and check valve. I will up-date after I get the parts replaced and the sweet stuff cleaned out of tank.
Sugar? wtf. where are you parking your steed at? Its a scary thought to think that someone can or would do a thing like that. I'm thinking a gas lock, Hmmm...

Good trouble shooting method. Well done.
WHAT???? Are you saying someone vandalized your bike by putting sugar in the tank???
Big, it had the 23 deg in it.
Just got this bike and I believe the vandalizim was done to the previous owner ( I have only put gas in it once)
I will update after repairs are made. Waiting for filter at this point.
