I would check the impedance of your speakers, there will not be a lot of resistance with the 12" o speaker wire. Your going to need the resistance regardless when you st the gain on the amp.
Go to harbor freight buy a $5.00 multimeter, set it on ohms (the horse shoe looking symbol) and it will tell you what the ohms of the speakers are.
You will need the multimeter to set the voltage of the channel output to the speakers to maximize the speaker/amp combo. Like you I don't know **** from granola regarding audio but I have installed three amps and three head units and that's the best way.
