LMAF!! This is the greatest thread ever...Can't be brake dust as it gets on the front of the saddle bags on an ultra...Anything behind the knees gets coated... but not in front of. I'm sure there is a joke in there somewhere???
Brake dust. Only thing it could be. Road grime would have showed up on my VTX. Rode with 2 other bikes last Saturday. The Honda stayed clean while my UC and another friends Road Glide had the dust all over the back of the bikes.
I detailed mine, and waxed it Monday after getting my wheels.... I bet I only rode 50 miles and noticed black dust on the rear side of my bags, by rear fender..... Kinda glad I'm not alone here
Me too, just one short ride and it's all over the place....
It is brake dust. Take a damp rag and rub your rotors with it. Does it look the same? I find it all over my wheels.
It will pit the hell out of your aluminum wheels if you don't wash it off pretty often, especially if it gets wet.
It's brake dust. I would get the same stuff all over the backend and wheels of my yellow SRT8 Challenger with the Brembo brakes. They come with soft pads for superior braking. Everyone I know changes out the pads on those things as quick as they can. They really aren't needed unless your running it on the track.
I'm sure someone makes pads for our bikes that produce less dust. I just haven't looked into it yet but will when the time comes for replacement.
