Never thought of that and I've been searching for ways to mount a GPS without drilling or anything to funky looking. I've got an antiquated Magellan RoadMate 6000T which is probably heavy for it's screen size, plus the mount seems overly tall for the application of mounting to the fuel cap. I tried out your idea but my suction cup is too big to get a good grip due to the curve of the fuel cap and the size of the cup. Do you use a specialized suction mount, one that is shorter in height and a smaller cup to get a good bite on the fuel cap?

This past spring I bought a mount system from Leader Motorcycle products, doesn't cost nothing to look. I'm quite happy with what I bought.

I went with the Kuryakyn fuel door mount. I tried handlebar mount but I couldn't see it very well and had to remove my Barefoot Willie's cup holder to install. With the Kuryakyn, the GPS is now very visible. It doesn't feel like I am taking my eyes off the road to look at it as some have reported/theorized. Plus, I am again well hydrated with my insulated thermos.

I have a handlebar mount like this but I bought one with a larger ball so I could use a RAM arm and RAM cradle. Much more adjustable and the cradle is rock solid, no way it's coming out of there.

Another vote for RAM mounts. I went on their website and wrote down the part numbers. I then searched on Amazon for the part numbers. I saved about $40 by buying on Amazon. That was In 09.

Hope you have the GPS tethered. You see, a friend of mine used a suction cup mount. It lost suction one day, fell off the bike at highway speed and was destroyed.

RAM has mounts that go on the handlebar, mirror mount and pretty much anywhere. The X mount holds a phone really well, would work for a GPS.

My buddy watched his GPS in the rear view mirror bouncing behind him in I4 on the way to Daytona Beach for Biketoberfest.

He saw the glow from the screen until it disappeared. It was early morning and still dark.

I use a RAM mount on the clutch side. I've never had a problem. RAM makes great accessories.
