I picked up an 06 Road Glide in Black Pearl with security for $15,700 brand new on the floor. No delivery or setup fees. Granted the 07's have the six speed and bigger bore. 99% of my time is spent on secondary roads so I cannot justify the extra on the six speed and by the time I am done adding my V&H head pipes, slip ons, Race Tuner and dyno, I'll be turning the same numbers if not better than a stock 07. I can do a very good big bore for about $1500 in parts which still puts me at $17200. I'd have done the headers, pipes, Race Tuner etc on the 07 and from quite a few close friends who own the 07's, I took their suggestions and went with an 06 with the already proven engine. Just my two pennies lol.
It looks like getting a dealer to come off MSRP quite a task for some folks and others have done OK with it. I ran a poll on it a few days ago and the it surprised me how many paid MSRP or better. It seems like we are so crazy to get our hands on a Harley we will pay retail (MSRetailP), which we never would for a car or a truck. I got my dealer to come off 1500.00 plus throw in free labor for all of the acc I had added to my bike when I bought it. It was a big fuss about the free labor, they kept saying those guys were independant of the deal, and I kept saying "I don't care", there are bike dealers every where and if you don't need thier help with $$, take your own cash in the store and flash it around they will come off of the price. You have to be in a place of POWER to deal. You can't be asking for money and need it at 20% interest and expect them to come off of MSRP. Take in about 10 -15 grand and watch em drool over you.
HAHAHA I would believe you until you think flashing money makes them jump... They make even MORE when you finance. They would PREFER you to finance....

I read this alot and have to chime in , I have an 06 SG and I ride FAST, I do75-85 mph (somettimes more.lol) as a normal cruising speed on the Highway(s) in New Hampshire. I barely break 4000 RPMs (maybe less, it's ben so freakin long since I rode, damn snow). believe me,I would have LOVED to have the 96/6, but the 88/5 is awesome too, hell we never complained about it before?
I would LEAVE IT .... If they dont take my price I walk. I am not affraid to drive away it dont hurt my feelings one bit to stand right there in the parking lot of one dealer and call another one. Its my money, I worked for it and I love to Haggle over the price. I saw my dad walk away from a new car deal over 50 dollars one time back in the 70's, Heck when I check in to a motel room I make em come off of the price, its all a game. My wife use to get embrassed now I got my two boys doing the same things, I haggle one the the price of every thing ..... kinda make life fun! I might even try it at the golden arches one day over burger.
They get MSRP because people pay it, same with those that get over MSRP. Dude, there are so many great deals on used bikes out there, IMO, you would be foolish not to check them out. I just got an email from Orlando Harley that said they still have some new 06's in stock, not sure what models though. They were also giving away custom paint sets with the purchase of a new bike. But, you don't have to buy from a dealer to get a Harley, unless you just can't live without the current model year. If that is the case, please refer back to my first sentence. Good Luck.
Anybody have any experience with The Woodlands, TX HD dealer ?? Was in there Saturday.......ton of bikes (plus whatever is in inventory storage....who knows how many). Anyway, sales person did not seem too interested in negotiating a lower price for the RKC I was looking at.
I paid MSRP for mine with only delivery fee ($335), recieved 15% off any accessories thrown in the deal, $1500 worth of free accessories, $7 off any incurred labor cost (if i had them install the parts), plus license and tax.
Try American Eagle HD in Corinth TX. http://www.americaneaglehd.com/specials.asp
