I "almost" bought a used Street Glide because of how bad the dealers in Alabama try and screw their customers. We only have a handful of dealers statewide and only 3-4 within an hours drive of me. the 1st dealer I couldn't ge a salesman to help me at all and after 45 minutes I got pissed and left. I got home and sent the sales manager an email complaining about the poor service and how disappointed I was to have driven 60 miles to be treated that way. I expected a reply along the lines of " sorry, please come back and I will make sure your next visit is great" or something, what I got was "well, my sales team must have been off their game". WTF! The other dealer wanted $2K OVER msrp and refused to budge an inch but at least they were courteous and sincerley wanted to bow me over and sell me a bike. I finally found my way to Rider's Harley in Trussville and they were really nice, helpful and sold my Street Glide to me for msrp. Actually the bike we made the deal on had a couple of issues(flaws in the paint) that I didn't like so they did a dealer swap with the 1st dealer. I ended up getting the 1st bike I drooled over and since it had an alarm on it and I didn't want or need an alarm I got it free.

I have been to all in Houston-Stubbs, Mancuso, Republic, Woodlands-and bought in Waco. It made for a nice break-in ride coming home as well. At the time, Mancuso was sitting on three of the model I wanted and would hardly give me the time of day. Of course, I had told them I was a MSRP buyer, so I guess that was the reason for their lack of interest. I called Waco and worked the deal over the phone and picked it up the following weekend. BTW, they were just unloading the only one they had when I called. Some dealers want tosell bikes, the others just like watching their inventory grow.

Granted the 07's have the six speed and bigger bore.
Actually, they have a longer stroke (same as Evo), with same bore as a TC88. Put a big-bore kit on a TC96 and it becomes 103 ci.

I did a lot of shopping around when I bought my Road King Classic...
The stealers in Houston were asking $1500 over MSRP . This was at Both Mancusso shops, Republic HD, and the Woodlands.
The Dealers that were great to deal with were Cowboy HD in Beaumont and Goes inAngleton (on 288).
I refused to deal with the additionaluplift. I bought my bike at Cowboy (only because Goe didnt have the color option I wanted and Cowboy did, and didnt get it before it was to late.).

Not only do they try to upsell you on MSRP , but look at the Extended Warranty (Service Plan) At the time I purchased my bike, the "MSRP" on the Warranty fromMoCowas ~ $ 907, when you asked the stealers they were ranging from 1200-1500 . Republic wanted 1500, Woodland 1400, Mancuso ~ 1350-1400....This isa 50% uplift......I was told by a dealer that is up to each dealer to set his own price on this warranty.

I chose not to buy the extended warranty at that time, but since Iam getting close to the two year limit, I am planning on doingit in the next week or so.....I called Goes last week and the had the best deal on the extended warranty package. (Republic quoted me on 900 for 1 extra year while at Goes I got the 4 yr for 1500)

What I did I set up a list of everything I wanted on the bike (color, , motor congif, pipes, chrome, bars etc), and faxed this to each dealer and asked them to price this with and without discounts, and believe me this was a great negotiating tool.......

Typical episode from a stealer:
Republic offered me 10% on parts and labor, at the same time on their newsletter ( that goes to any Joe blow thats subscribes) offered anyone 20% off. Even with this they wouldnt honor it.........They couldnt give me the 20% off since it was intended on small purchases and to bring in Yuppies to buy clothes , etc
Republicsaid they would take off the uplift if I purchased BOTH the Extended service Plan ($1500) and the Maintenance Plan (1500). Needless to say I walked out the door.

Spend a little time planning on what you want delivered with your bike. You will benefit from this whe purchasing. This will also give you the 2 yr warranty , as opposed to parts installed after they have delivered the bike (90 days for chrome). At the same time its easier to get a good deal on aftermarked parts.....

Good Luck , hope this helped!

You guys make me glad I live in the Tampa Bay area. We have three good dealerships all within a half-hour's drive from just about anywhere in Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater Beach, and they're all MSRP dealers. And Jim's Harley is very friendly to Zipper's Performance upgrades and maintenance, which is a rare gem. In fact, the majority of all HD dealerships in Florida are MSRP dealers, so you all in Texas on across to Georgia can always dip down into Florida and find a good number of decent dealers, some very good. Good luck.

Keep the breeze between the knees,

Woodlands HD dealer owned by the same folks who own Texan in Conroe. But they are less pushy and don't work on commission. They are salaried, so you don't feel that pressure to buy like you do at Stubbs, et al...

Referring back to a response up the page, I am a fan of Goe -- though their inventory is usually slim. Their service dept. is good, though, and you don't have to wait long.

I'd tell that STEALER to stick that bike where the sun don't shine!
I purchased my '06 SG in NJ for $1000 below MSRP plus they gave me an extended warranty.

Asked for best deal at Stubbs in Houston for an 07 Street Glide...was told $500 over MSRP! No addtional deals (% off chrome, first service, etc...). I know a lot of people have recently purchsed new bikes, wondering what kind of "deal" you got...

Thanks

Probably because of the strike at Harley....let the greedy dealers begin.[:@]

Without sounding like a dam yankee,I,ve traveled a lot since I retired 5 years ago and I,ve found that the farther south you go the price goes up and the first thing that goes, is the pricetag off the handlebars. You can drive or fly a long way for a couple grand and look at the bright side, you could ride it home!!!!
