Default RK tires

Just got an '06 RK w/12,500 miles.Front tire is original, rear tire was replaced in 2010 at 10,000 miles. These are tubed Dunlops, and the tread is really not all that bad (maybe 60% front,80% rear).Would it be advisable to go ahead and change both for "piece of mind" due to age, only the front due to age,or leave them alone until tread dictates the need for replacement?Appreciate any input...

unless they got flat spots from sitting or something like that I would ride those suckers. Has the bike been stored inside?

Was kept in a garage-I 'm not sure if heated/don't think so.They don't seem to have any flat spots. I put about 500 miles on it so far-so good.

Older rubber naturally gets hard and I personally wouldn't keep a tire longer than 5 years. Look real close for really small cracks, your likely to have em.

+1 on that.
Old tires will not do you any favors.

The rear is getting on, the front is too old for my liking. A fresh pair will give you peace of mind, but much more to the point, a safe ride.

Default Commander 2s

Nothing feels as good as new tires. If you can afford it, do it.
I ditched my 402's for Commander 2's. Good deal at my indy and reported life time is better than the Dunlops. We'll see. I like they way they feel and there is a big difference on tar strips. Some don't like the more modern appearance on a Road King but if they are spinning you can't tell, and if they are not spinning you are not riding! Went black wall too. More time riding, less time washing.

Commander II or Dunlop E3's. Had them both on my RK. And both are far superior to the 402's in every way. Handling, wear, and tracking much better. Do yourself a favor and make the upgrade. Check out Jakewilson.com or denniskirk.com for good pricing.

+1 on going with new rubber...need to be safe and a big +1 on the E3s. They are much better than OEM tires on my 06 RKC
