Why are 2011 SG's selling for the same price as '09? Been looking on ebay & Craigslist and I'm finding bikes w/ the same options & mileage but 2 years newer going for the same price. Is there something less desirable w/the '11's than the '09's?

nope...simply supply and demand. The touring bikes are roughly all the same from 2009 until present (aside from a few minor changes within and between models). From what I am seeing here locally and talking to folks who are currently shopping for a Harley tourer, they can get a new bike for roughly the same as a used bike 2009 and newer, and the deals on batwing bikes are even sweeter because there are so many of them out on the open market. Has your research been the same for all the tourers or just the street glide?
I've only looked @ SG's. Most prices are pretty stupid ie. 2009 SG w/20K miles, a couple cheap extras wanting $18,900. I see a lot like that. Then there's the 2012's w/10K miles, bone stock & people are wanting $20-21K. Doesn't make much sense. I've seen a couple good deals but nothing I've thought was amazing. I'm more curious than actually purchasing right now.

I think you are asking that backwards, I would ask: Why are '09s selling for the same price as an '11?
Street Glides are the most popular model and everybody wants the new frame.

I would say most late model used bikes are priced to high from individuals because they owe the bank too much money.
Most people just buy on monthly payments, not what they are actually spending on the bike.
and they will make bike payments 5 to 7 years usually so they hardly ever have much paid down on them the first 3 years.
I would continue to shop around. Some people think that their bikes are a rolling gold mine. HaHaHa. I bought a used 07 from the dealer a year ago that already had 5K in extras with 3,800 miles for 15900. I thought that it was a pretty good deal. Plus like another member stated people that are selling on CL are probably trying to get out from under a loan and that could be the reason for the high prices. Heck you could buy a new one for 21-22K right?
when i was shopping for mine i got used to the prices i was seeing and one day woke up and went to the dealer got mine brand new for 20k out the door with tax, tag, title and all. i'm sure the used ones you are seeing for a really high price tag are because they owe an arm and a leg and threw a bunch of accesories that add up and never get your money back.
Well then I got a great deal on my 2009 SG with 7,200 miles on it for 17,500. It is opened up with Dresser Duals, Fuel Pak and a big air sucker. It also has 12.5 mini apes on it. My friend traded it in for a 2013 SG. So I traded my 2006 Electra glide in for it. The dealer ship only charged 500 over the trade in price they gave him. They also did the 10,000 maintenance. I also have been putting parts on it while waiting to ride. I am getting the inner fairing painted now.
