I don't have much experience with variedpipe systems and the combos you can add seem endless. I have Rinehart True Duals on my new King and I like them.
what little i know about sound and pipes, just for you
mellow and deepneeds big diameter tubes...whether the trex style or big fat slipons...loud is kept in check with baffles and sharpness muffled by fiberglass packin...i started with V&H true duals/basicslip ons...they were tame at idle and cruzin, butbarked well withthe throttle...i wanted louder so i started by cuttin a section outof thebaffle and reweldin it, repackin it & shoulda stopped there cause it was sweet...with 4" diameter slip ons the sound was deep....but oh no, i wanted more so i cut the baffle down to 3" withbasically just the end cone and no packin...ITS LOUD...an it got worse when i pumped up the compression...now my bike sounds brutal...i love it...i'd also love it to be quieter but now i done chunked the cut off stuff and have had toorder some new baffles....by starting with big tubes and changing whats inside alittle at a time you can tailor your sound...keep in mind tho if you pump some power into the motor its gonna change again
Not really sure what sound it is that you want but I get lots of compliments on my sound. Funny thing is most everyone uses the same decription of what they want for sound except volume, real lound, some not so loud and everwhere in between. I have V&H Turn downs and just recently added Dresser duals so now the sound is coming from both sides. Way back in the old days I was a car guy and we always looked for big diameter pipes for the low down throaty sound so I think I have to agree with where Bryan TTM is coming from, big chamber deep sound. Kinda like the woofer, midrange & tweeter deal with speaker low, mid and high.
I'm starting to think Rush, cheaper changing baffles then pipes I guess.

For about half the cost, try Full Sac and have your stock mufflers recored. He has instock units if you don't still have yours. Talked by email tonight. He is looking to come with some new product. www.fullsac.com.
Went straight from Stocks on the 96 to Full Sac. I wasnot worried about sound, but love what I got. Bought the dual and mufflers to go with.
