Just wired in my 2610 about a week ago on an 05 Ultra. I tapped the front fender light for power. Used a RAM Mount on the right side handlebar.Seems to work fine.
Thanks for the info. I have an auxillary switch on the left side of my handlebars. The right side has the switch for the running lights. Could the Auxillary wiring be used?
I have a 2610 mounted on the left using the RAM Mount system as well. I tapped into the power connector that is wire tied to the headlight connector. It is a blade connector so all you have to do is crimp on a male blade on the + side and a female on the - side and plug it in. On and off with the ignition with no real effort.
I just mounted a 2610 on my Ultra. Decided to go with a slightly different tact. I used a Ram mount, the dual ball set up that bolts on to the clutch lever housing bolts. Pop the existing screws off, place bracket, insert and tighten included (longer) bolts.
To that I added a short arm, with a locking thumb wheel. Then I cut down the factory cable, and attached it to a 12volt lighter plug. I hold the cable in place with a couple of velcro cable wraps, and it seems to work great. I went this way as I wanted to be able to run with no GPS or mount on the bike at times, and didn't want the cable hanging around when the GPS wasn't on board.
