Is the HD Sundowner the same as the stock Road King seat?
I was looking at them today and they look the same.
Definitely not the same as my 12 rkc. The passenger pillion on my stock seta was 9" wide. That's why there is a LePera continental on now. 16" wide passenger pillion. I looked at sundowner at the dealer. Wider passenger area (14") but still sat me too far forward. Opted for the LePera. Quite a bit firmer than Harley or mustang but I like that. Also about 2x more money for LePera
Definitely not.I bought a sundowner after having lower back pain after long rides. With the stock seat I could only ride about an hour before my back and tail bone would start to ache and would have to stop and take a break, with the sundowner I can go at least 2hrs and with a back rest installed I can go without stopping between fuel stops. The sundowner seat foam seems to be a lot more supportive than the stock seat. You could probably get the stock seat changed to suit you but it's probably cheaper just to replace it. There are a lot of good deals on ebay and other web sites out there if your patient. I paid 120 bucks for my new sundowner on ebay about 18 months ago.
The sundowner seems to be a good seat BUT .
I sent my stock RK seat to MeanCity Cycle .
I had them lower and narrow it and add memory foam for comfort .
Turned out great super comfey .
Way CHEAPER than buying a new seat .
My total cost including shipping both ways was just under $150.
You can have them change your seating position forward or back ect .
Just call and tell them what mods you want and get a price.
I have rode many 550 mile days NP.
