I am in the process of taking my front and rear wheels off so I can take them to have new tires put on. Got the rear off no problem but...the manual says you have to remove the front brake disc mounting bolts, both sides, and for the life of me, I do not know what wrench is going to take them off! 10 mm 12 point fits but since when does a Harley have metrics? Are these bolts some type of torx I'm not familiar with? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The manual does not tell you what size wrench to use except that it does mention...if you have to take apart the calipers, you have to use a Torx-40. Thanks.
10mm...goodness, I thought all the bolts were SAE...silly me! I guess I need to get a 12 point 10mm socket then. Tried a 12 point wrench but they're really nice and tight! Thanks for your feedback!
The front ends and brakes are Japanese, 10mm-12 point is correct to remove the calipers, you said you were going to remove the brake discs, if so those are a T40 Torx size.
Those 10mm torx head bolts can easily be removed and replaced with 35mm long thread allen head bolts as I did. I think the pitch is 1.5 but double check. A heck of a lot easier to deal with that the stock ones.
