Default exhaust stud

I was removing my exhaust and one of the studs came out instead of the nut. Everything came out clean. No messed up threads or anything. What do I put on the stud before re-installing it? Red LockTite?

I'd use red, check the torque specs in the manual.

antiseize on the nut when you put it on the stud, and re-check torque after running the bike

Very lucky, The usual post is that the thing broke inside.
While red would probably be indicated i still hesitate to use it since it could be a pain to remove in the future.
The blue has less break strength but the heat resistance is similar/same.

This is the first thread that I have ever seen about one coming out acidentally. As you said, it is usually that it snapped and will not come out at all. I am sure that the answer is in the shop manual, mine is in the garage and at 14 degrees, I am not going out there to check.

First thing I would do is buy a new stud. Why put that one back in when it has obvious corrosion at the nut end? Buy new nuts while you are at it. All those fasteners get heat stressed and replacements are much cheaper than a faupax.

Just glad it didn't break-off. That's what usually happens. Always best to spray the studs, the night before, with some type of penetrating fluid such as Liquid Wrench and let it work to soften the potentially seized parts. Works like a champ.

neither red or blue loctite will work as they are not for high temps that are found around the exhaust port...you can buy a white medium strength loctite though...But personnally I would not use any loctite..I would just install a new stud and be done with it....

Double nut the stud...

Then torque it into the head (using the top, or outer, nut only), remove the two nuts used to torque the stud in the head, and then install the exhaust and torque the nut as you would normally. I wouldn't put loctite on the stud either.
