you loud pipe guys are going to bring more rules and regulation to everyone. no, you do not have some god given right to to make excessive noise at all hours of the day and night. common sense would say it is o.k. to rap it up when you will not be disturbing john q. public-out on the open road-not in congested and/or residential areas. those people have every right to expect quiet and peaceful conditions.
I had originally had a set of Vance and Hines basic slip ons on my 09 Ultra but I tired of the extra noise while on long trips. like you, I wanted that "sound" but on long trips it was irritating. I figured that I'd just have to live with the sewing machine sound and since I have the Stage One DL/AC I put on a pair of Screamimng Eagle pipes. Let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised at how good they sounded when I fired it up. Louder than stock, much deeper and they carry the EPA label. Really good sounding, nothing like the stock pipes.

my loud pipes might be annoying but do the same people who bitch about noise also bitch to politicions about 2000 watt sound systems that do nothing to protect the people playing them. it is simply to show ignorance to everyone. when i see people with there heads up there *** instead of on the road where there minds should be they will hear me and they will see me. guarantee that. I am respectful of other people until they don't show me the same respect back. its pretty simple. everyone have a safe season and make all the noise you NEED too.
living in downtown HB my bike is silent motorcops carry decibel meters and they don't give a crap what it says on the pipe
And we've got no one else to thank for this other than the idiots that sit at red lights cracking their throttles, the idiots that leave their homes at 5 in the morning cracking their throttles through the neighborhoods, etc.
Having noise and pollution laws (and lack of money) have made me keep my stock pipes. Whether or not they'd pass inspection down the road, I don't know. But I guess it's better keep them, than have to change them back.
you are correct. Think about it.. All of these laws usually seem to start in CA for some reason and then filter throughout the states. I see this being an issue for the buyers of motorcycles for a long time to come.

I'm 67 years old and have Rineharts on my Street Glide. Love them. I am careful not to be obnoxious with them or rap them up in town. I was at a Memorial Day service several years ago. While a WW2 veteran was giving a speech where you could hear a pin drop, several bikers rode around the park and impressed the gathered crowd with their stupidity. Pissed me off, I could have outlawed loud pipes right them myself. If we lose this right to have loud pipes on the bikes, you can thank the idiots that don't respect the rights of others.

Leave me (loud pipe guy) alone.....and get a goldwing.
So the "quiet peaceful guys" have rights....and I don't?
In NC...they have the right to expect quiet and peaceful conditions after 10pm.....but at 2pm, on the road.....not. Get over it!
Live and let live!
Please don't confuse my position with showing any disrespect to funerals, church services, neighborhoods.....etc....but daytime, on the road.......noise? really?
